The month of October opened with a visit in Sicily of a number of ICSA’s Members and Supporters from Australia.
During their stay the participants to the tour, organised by Echoes Events of Melbourne, have had the opportunity to visit a number of places important for their historical, archaeological and naturalistic significance. The group also engaged in:
Visit to: Palazzo Biscari – ICSA’s Head office in Catania;
Visit to: Associazione Carretti Siciliani Ttrecastagni – where an evening of sicilian folk music was enjoyed by all;
Visit to: Comune di Zafferana – to view the exhibition, organized by ICSA, of Sicilian Dreaming: paintings of Sicily by the Australian Aboriginal artist Billy Doolan;
Visit to: Canicattini Bagni – to view the current artisans’ exhibitions at the Museo del Tessuto e la Casa dell’Emigrante;
a short visit to the archaeological site of Akrai;
Visit to: The Lord Mayor of Valguarnera – to celebrate the return to their birth place of a number of Tour participants. The visit also provided the opprtunity to tie bonds of frienship with the Associazione Valguarneresi nel mondo.
Interest in ICSA grows as does the friendship between members from Sicily and Australia. This testifies to the social and cultural value-add that ICSA brings to its members as well as to the interest and energy with which ICSA is supported in both lands.
