The Australian youth-fiction writer Krista Bell has been a guest of I.C.S.A. in Sicily, from the 28th April to early June.
Her visit, whose aim was to research and prepare for her next book ” Mysteries in Sicily ” ( working title ) to be published in 2013, began in Taormina where Krista studied italian at the Centre for Italian Studies Babilonia.
To enhance her research, during her visit I.C.S.A. has programmed for Krista a series of stays as guest of Sicilian families, with whom the writer has spent a month, familiarizing herself with sicilian lifestyle and the experience of growing up in Sicily.
In addition, I.C.S.A. has also established links between Krista and the Liceo Scientifico A. Volta and the Istituto M. Rapisardi of Caltanissetta, where the writer has met teachers and students. These visits have proved an inspiration to all enreaching Krista’s research in Sicily and offering students the unique opportunity to meet a visiting Australian writer.
The project has enjoyed the collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institute – Melbourne – Italian Ministry of Foreign affairs.
Krista Bell’s literary career includes 23 books. Her next novel “Warriors to die for” is set in China and will be published by Windy Hollows Books at the end of 2013.
In 2010 Krista was a finalist of the Nino Sanciolo Prize.
